Tutorial of drawing a feather is very easy to understand for children and beginners. Birds are the only creatures possessing feathers instead of scale and fur. Feathers are designed for birds with it. They assist them for warmth, and long and strong feathers assist in flying. Some birds fly for months without ever landing anywhere.
How to Draw a Feather
Soft feathers primarily insulate birds by preventing air from entering. Feathers of waterbirds such as duck and penguin insulate waterbirds by keeping water out so that skin will not get wet. They play analogous protective roles for birds as scales for fish and hairs for mammals.
Male birds always possess a brighter color of feathers to attract female birds. They are used universally for decoration purposes by human beings. In ancient history it has been utilized as a pen for writing.
How to Draw Wings
Step1: Sketch thin long curved lin for the shaft ie, the center line of the feather.
Step 2: Sketch a leaf-like structure, for this sketch 2 more curvy lines on both side of the shaft.
Step 3: We are aware that feathers are soft and fluffy, therefore the structure needs to be expanded and then suddenly narrow towards the tip. Double the shaft line becoming pointed towards the tip.
Step 4: Draw thin lines diagonally from the shaft to the outer border. The part of the feather is referred to as ‘vane’.
Step 5: Remove the outer edge of the feather and draw pointed wavy lines, these should not be symmetrical, look at the picture provided below.
Step 6: Make the lines of closer and darken the outlines.
Step 7: Contour feather with the hatching process and draw darker lines in the outer and inner side of a feather to provide finishing.
How to Draw a Cartoon Feather
Step 1: First, draw a long oval slanted towards the right side leave the length as per your wish. Draw a line from the middle of it extending out as shown in the image.
Step 2: In this step double the middle line getting thinner at the top creating a pointed tip. Draw the edges of a feather with smooth strokes creating spikes or close-ended curves. Edges should be uneven since the feather is fluffy and free at the edges. Draw a stroke of lines from the middle of the feather towards the edges.
Step 3: Delete all the additional lines from the sketch and draw the border using a marker.
Step 4: Drawing is finished and you can Color it according to your will and imagination.
Feather sketching is also quite easy since we have seen a lot of birds everywhere around us with some different kind of feathers. Peacock possesses the most stunning feather with a number of excellent colors inside it.
You can also draw Peacock feathers using the below given instructions.
You can create various types of feathers with small variations in the above-provided methods. Feathers consist of only 2 structures a shaft and fur, with the same pattern. There are only a few birds like peacocks with a different type of feathers. If you enjoyed this tutorial please also follow our other drawing tutorials.
