How to draw caterpillar:
Step 1: To sketch a caterpillar begin your sketch from the head, make an oval at the side of paper with a line going from its underside.
Step 2: Then begin sketching other overlapped large circles to it followed by a curved tubular figure small folded at the end. This sketching will assist you in sketching the thorax and abdomen sections.
Step 3: Draw 2 lines to connect the head to the thorax and draw a small curved line for the legs in the bottom part.
Step 4: There are many small joints in the body for this draw lots of oval rings from head to the end of the body, the size should be proportional to the breadth of already drawn body.
Step 5: Draw curved lines between each ring and include a round curved line around the leg guideline.
Step 6: Include a few more details in the head, small flatten curves between each leg, also work on the abdomen.
Step 7: Pay special attention to your outlines and include other details in the form of curved lines.
Step 8: Include patches and shade them to create varying thickness and darkness of the swallowtail animal.
Step 9: After you’ve finished contouring, erase all the guidelines and tidy up the mess.
How to draw a cartoon caterpillar:
Step 1: To start your drawing you can begin with a circle, it does not have to be perfect always attempt to draw freehand instead of using some instrument. Underneath the drawn circle draw a half round in the side of the circle, then draw the third curve underneath these shapes.
Step 2: As we did in step one continue drawing another semi-circular shape after every one of them, only you just have to keep in mind that the shapes need to be small as you move towards the end of the tail. Draw a total of 6 shapes you can go a little more than that but do not make it too many.
Step 3: After you have finished with the body draw an antenna at the top of the head, draw 2 lines and a circle on top of it. Draw a little triangle at the base 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, curve is drawn for thorax and abdomen.
Step 4: Draw 2 large round eyes in the largest circle, draw 2 eyebrows above that and a smiling mouth below the eyes.
Step 5: Insert green color into your drawing and a grinning cartoon swallotail animal is complete.
